Telehealth, one of the major issues of the Legislative session, passed a key Senate committee Wednesday the way the Florida Medical Association had hoped, the News Service of Florida reports.
The vote limits long-distance consultations to physicians. It’s the opposite of the way the vote went Tuesday in the House. Its HB751 wants to allow nurse practitioners and others to participate in health-care delivery through telecommunications.
The Senate Health Policy Committee voted 7-2 in favor of limiting the practice to not just physicians but those who have Florida licenses. Members acknowledged the bill is bound to undergo plenty of changes in the weeks to come.
