Florida voters in November will consider a constitutional amendment proposing regarding one-third of all annual real estate transaction taxes go toward environmental conservation, according to the SarasotaHerald-Tribune.

The Water and Land Conservation amendment would pay for drinking water and natural resource protection projects. The money could raise about $10 billion over the next 20 years, though no new tax increase is included in the ballot language.

Originally founded in December 2006 as an independent grassroots publication dedicated to coverage of health issues in Florida, Health News Florida was acquired by WUSF Public Media in September 2012.
