High-profile but controversial pediatric heart surgeon Mark Plunkett is out of a job at University of Florida, which he had accepted this past summer, according to the Gainesville Sun (paywall alert). But Plunkett got some good news: The Lexington Herald-Leader reports that he will receive $1 million in a settlement with University of Kentucky, which shut down his program a year ago for reasons never made public. Plunkett was to have started at UF Sept. 1, but the university began investigating after CNN reported that he had unexpected patient deaths and complications.
