Center Accused of Over-Use of Drugs

The chief assistant in the Broward Public Defender’s office has asked the Department of Children and Families to investigate a psychiatric treatment center for emotionally damaged teen girls in Pembroke Pines, the Orlando Sentinelreports. Gordon H. Weekes Jr. accused Citrus Center of Adolescent Treatment Service of over-drugging and restraining the girls. One of the girls told him that the girls misbehaved in order to get “booty-juice” shots to get high.

Originally founded in December 2006 as an independent grassroots publication dedicated to coverage of health issues in Florida, Health News Florida was acquired by WUSF Public Media in September 2012.
