State Farm Sues ‘Ask Gary’

Insurance giant State Farm has filed a federal lawsuit against chiropractor Gary Kompothecras and his 1-800-Ask-Gary doctor-lawyer referral service, the Tampa Bay Times reports. State Farm says that a significant portion of the claims it paid to the accident clinics are based on illegal charges rooted in a patient-referral system that violates Florida laws. So far, State Farm has identified at least $480,000 in such claims and wants a judge to return the money, nullify the clinics' pending bills and make the defendants' records available for inspection.
