Under the bill proposed by Republican Rep. Greg Steube of Sarasota, school principals could choose one or more staff members to be trained to carry a gun into school, according to the Sarasota Herald-Tribune.
Despite a poll indicating that a majority of Floridians support legalizing medical marijuana, two top senate leaders say, it’s a long shot in the legislature, according to the Fort Myers News-Press. The bill, proposed by Democrat Sen. Jeff Clemens of Lake Worth, would allow patients or designated caregivers to have up to four ounces of marijuana and grow up to eight plants.
Lawmakers hope this year will be the year they join 39 other states in banning texting while driving- a law they’ve been trying to pass for more than a decade. This upcoming session, they’ve filed seven bills to punish the practice, the News-Press reports.
