Walking Found To Lower Breast Cancer Risk

Older women looking to lower their breast cancer risk might want to consider a long walk each day.  Researchers with the American Cancer Society found that walking for at least an hour each day lowered the breast cancer risk by 14 percent in postmenopausal women, according to Reuters Health.  Researchers who have been following about 74,000 women found that those who walked “at a moderate pace” for seven hours or more each week lowered their risk of breast cancer by 14 percent, compared to women who walked less than three hours a week.

Originally founded in December 2006 as an independent grassroots publication dedicated to coverage of health issues in Florida, Health News Florida was acquired by WUSF Public Media in September 2012.
