The Florida Legislature during the 2017 session agreed to a $521 million cut in Medicaid funding for hospitals as part of its $83 billion-plus budget.

Saying the “opioid crisis presents an existential threat,” Senate Appropriations Chairman Jack Latvala on Monday asked Gov. Rick Scott to use executive authority to provide $20 million for opioid-related services.

State Workers To See Pay Raises, Pension Changes

State workers will be in line for pay raises, although the plan is coupled with major changes in the state pension fund and employee health insurance, under a bill approved Monday by the Senate Appropriations Committee.
