Tampa Company Makes Synthetic Canine Cadavers For Research

Alberta the dog doesn't bark or bite, but she does bleed, and to be frank, she is frightening.

But she apparently makes an excellent cadaver.

Alberta also is skinless and hairless, but not to worry, she's not real.

She's a canine made entirely of synthetic material, created to provide veterinary students with anatomically correct bodies for surgical practice.

SynDaver also makes synthetic human cadavers and all sorts of human body parts that medical students can work on. On Tuesday, the Florida company unveiled its newest product - the synthetic canine.

This dog looks something like a Halloween horror display, all bulging eyes and bared teeth. But company executives say synthetic cadavers could eliminate the need for using euthanized shelter animals in veterinary schools.
