Florida Gov. Rick Scott is appealing a judge's order that the governor reinstate the chairman of the board that oversees several public hospitals in Broward County.
Attorney General Pam Bondi filed the appeal on Tuesday. A day earlier, a circuit judge ordered that Scott reinstate David Di Pietro to his post on the Broward Health board. The Fort Lauderdale attorney was suspended by Scott after his inspector general suggested that Di Pietro was interfering with an ongoing inquiry into the board's contracts.

Judge Carol-Lisa Phillips ruled that the inspector general's letter of complaint to the governor made no specific accusations against Di Pietro. She wrote that acts of the board as a whole could not be blamed on Di Pietro and that the board itself had acted within its rights.

The district recently settled a federal lawsuit over doctor salaries for $69.5 million settlement.
