Hospitals Announce Expansion, Collaboration

Florida Hospital Apopka is planning to double the number of beds by moving, the Orlando Sentinel reports. The project will require approval by the state. As the Sentinel reports, this plan by Adventist Health System/Sunbelt Inc. shows the increased competition with Orlando Health-owned Health Central for patients in west Orange County.

In other hospital news, Baptist Health in Jacksonville, Flagler Hospital in St. Augustine and the Southeast Georgia Health System have announced they are going to find more ways to collaborate (paywall alert), the Florida Times-Unionreports.

Originally founded in December 2006 as an independent grassroots publication dedicated to coverage of health issues in Florida, Health News Florida was acquired by WUSF Public Media in September 2012.
