Two employees of the Florida Hospital chain accused of copying 9,000 patient records outside of their normal job duties have been fired, the Orlando Sentinel reports.

Law enforcement officials notified the hospital in May 2014, after discovering the records during a separate investigation, but patients were not notified until last week, according to the Sentinel.

The records may have included patient names, addresses, Social Security numbers, phone numbers, health insurance information and physician names and diagnosis, the Sentinel reports. Patients at Florida Hospital facilities in Orange, Osceola and Seminole Counties are affected.

Originally founded in December 2006 as an independent grassroots publication dedicated to coverage of health issues in Florida, Health News Florida was acquired by WUSF Public Media in September 2012.
