Four Arrested at FSU for Hazing

The Sigma Chi fraternity at Florida State University is in trouble after campus police discovered that pledges were forced to drink alcohol to the point that they became ill.

Four members have been arrested on misdemeanor charges of hazing that “jeopardized the health and safety of the pledges,” according to Tallahassee.com.

Since a female student reported concerns in October, FSU Police interviewed 65 witnesses, Tallahassee.com reported. The hazing is said to have taken place not only at fraternity meetings but also at football tailgates and parties with strippers.

Originally founded in December 2006 as an independent grassroots publication dedicated to coverage of health issues in Florida, Health News Florida was acquired by WUSF Public Media in September 2012.
