Ex-Patient Sues Doc, Alleges Groping

South Daytona doctor Indravadan Shah is being sued by a former patient for battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress, the Daytona Beach News-Journal reports.

Sara Bathrick, of Palm Coast is seeking $15,000 in damages against Shah, who also is being investigated by South Daytona Police. Bathrick and four other female patients accuse Shah of “attempting to engage them in sexual contact for his own sexual gratification,” the News-Journal reports.

On July 11, the Florida Department of Health filed an emergency restriction of Shah’s license. The DOH on July 30 requested that the Board of Medicine revoke or suspend Shah’s license, or issue other punishment, the News-Journal reports.

Originally founded in December 2006 as an independent grassroots publication dedicated to coverage of health issues in Florida, Health News Florida was acquired by WUSF Public Media in September 2012.
